截止2013年底，我国天然气产量1210亿立方米，同比增长9.8%。居世界第六。天然气管线总长5.5万公里，年输气1600亿立方米。随着我国管网系统初步形成，沿海LNG接收站的陆续投产，我国天然气消费量增速加快，天然气下游市场面临的调峰压力逐步凸显。2013年地下储气库建设进程加快，全年新增设计工作气量87.9亿立方米，但仍低于美国天然气调峰能力比例。

2014年，我国天然气市场供需仍将保持紧平衡，预计表观消费量将同比增长11%至1860亿立方米。中俄供气协议的签订，无疑缓解了我国天然气供需缺口，并提供了巨大商机。由于中国的油气资源分布不均，进口油气量大，中国需要加大投资跨国管道、海上油气管线 以及LNG站和储气库建设的力度，未来10年将迎来天然气建设工程的高潮。
